The hotel had a unique character and charm but lacked some essential amenities. The rooms had areas for improvement, including outdated style and cleanliness issues, but the service eventually made up for initial discomfort. The location had potential but needed attention to detail and maintenance. The dining experience was satisfactory, with room for enhancement in food quality. Overall, a mixed experience with both positives and negatives.

The hotel offers a mix of positive and negative aspects. The rooms are spacious and clean, with great views, but accessing them before checkout can be tricky. The service may feel a bit overwhelmed, but staff are matter of fact and try their best. The location is a bit far from town but offers unique geyser views. Dining options are limited and early, but some extras are available for a small fee. Facilities are average.

The hotel is perfectly located on the boundary of one of NZ's top tourist spots, offering a quiet and convenient stay. The rooms are outdated but clean and cozy, with a need for some modern updates. The service is mixed, with friendly staff but some issues with management. The dining experience is basic, with limited options. The facilities are decent but could use some improvements.

The hotel had spacious rooms but was very shabby and cold, inclusive of continental breakfast for $120 NZD. The service, although helpful enough, could improve booking management and room cleanliness. The location was the only highlight, right next to Pohutu geyser and Te Puia thermal area. The dining experience, starting at 7 am, was pitiful and not worth the money. The facilities require better maintenance.
Rooms

The rooms, although big, were very shabby and freezing cold, with cobwebs and next to a Geyser. They contained 2 single beds, 1 queen bed, a small fridge, complimentary tea & coffee, and an ensuite with a shower.

The hotel is in a fairly quiet location, perfect for relaxation with a view of the golf course. The rooms were warm and cozy, ideal for my toddler who didn't need to be layered up. The service was welcoming and helpful overall, although there were limitations due to a relief manager's health issue. The dining experience was basic, but you could upgrade for a cooked breakfast at a small additional cost.

I had a lovely stay at the hotel, with comfortable rooms and a great poolside location. Although the service was a bit lacking, the overall experience was pleasant.
Rooms
8.0
The room was lovely with two double beds, a television, safe, and a good bathroom. It was warm, had no smell from the park behind, and even had a small fan heating. Being in a 'Poolside Room' was a great experience.
Service
6.0
The service was a bit like a character from 'League of Gentlemen' initially, but eventually, the staff offered to find us a fridge, TV, and even some milk. While helpful, there seemed to be a lack of regular maintenance in this once iconic establishment.
Location
7.0
The location was great, with easy access to the city and attractions. Although the immediate surroundings may have seemed barren, the overall location was convenient.
Dining

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room directly overlooked the geyser, which was a unique and exciting experience for us. The modern room with a flat-screen TV was comfortable and had an excellent view of the geyser, allowing us to watch it erupt all night. This saved us the cost of a geyser tour, which was a bonus. The hotel's location on the main street was convenient, although a bit messy looking, and being next door to Te Puia was a definite highlight.
Rooms

The hotel's location on the main street was convenient, but it was a bit messy looking. However, being next door to Te Puia was a major advantage.
Dining

The motel restaurant was very good, offering nice meals to get us going for the day. It was slightly disappointing that there was an additional cost for hot meals.
Facilities

The facilities were decent, but the sauna area needed tidying up and maintenance. The inability to close the curtains properly due to the hooks being separated was a minor inconvenience.

The service was generally welcoming, but there were moments of discomfort. The location was great, overlooking the geyser, but some areas felt depressing. The dining experience was average, and the facilities were satisfactory.

Staying at this bed and breakfast was an interesting experience. The rooms were great, opening directly onto the Pohutu Geyser, but there were issues with early entry attempts. Despite being clean and safe, the service was lacking, with unhelpful staff and poor management by the same individual. The location, right next to the geyser, was superb, but the overall view was somewhat depressing. The dining, though fairly average, was alright and good value, while the facilities were adequate.
Rooms
9.0
The room I had, a suite facing the park and overlooking the Pohutu Geyser, was fantastic. It was a steal for just a small extra cost compared to a standard room. The cleanliness and safety standards were top-notch.
Service
5.0
The service left much to be desired. The staff showed no interest in customer satisfaction and handling complaints. The manager was arrogant and clueless about hotel management.
Location
8.0
The hotel's location was superb, being right next to the geyser, offering a unique and mesmerizing view. However, the surrounding area was not well-maintained, which was a downside.
Dining

The hotel offered the most fantastic view overlooking an active geyser area, despite being a bit outdated. The location was a dream, close to town and mountain bike trails, saving the overall impression.
Rooms
5.0
The room was in very bad shape, lacking basic amenities like a water kettle or telephone. However, the view from the room was absolutely fantastic.
Service
5.0
The service initially felt like a scene from a movie but eventually offered some assistance. The staff passed us off after a short interaction but did try to improve our experience.
Location
7.0
The bleak and barren surroundings were somewhat compensated by the hotel's view over the geothermal area. The location, looking out over Pohutu geyser, was the only saving grace.
Dining
6.0
The dining experience was humble and unimpressive, with limited options and an early finish to breakfast service.
Facilities
5.0
The facilities were lackluster, not meeting expectations for a comfortable stay.
